After a busy day of hopping on and off trains and tubes, amongst the crowd it is hard to find some space to hold your ground.. Everyone is in a rush to get somewhere on time.. I have not seen one relaxed person strolling around train or tube stations.. Finding a spot on the tightly packed wagons of the trains, passing by people half pushing half walking to get out at the right station and of course finding a bit of oxygen to breathe.. It is a world for survivors out there for sure!
Walking your individuality
When I see some people walking, I can tell whether they are sensitive, tough or just rough around the edges.. Ones casually hopping after taking a few steps to catch the stair they eyed on the escalator and others half-running towards the sound of the arriving tube.. Carrying the weight of their bags as well as the tiredness of the stressful day, everyone takes steps towards their comfortable warm home hoping to get a couple of hours of relaxing followed by a well deserved sleep.. The ones walking next to the wall are usually the ones who want the certainty of something that get in their way.. The ones in the middle are the courageous venturers and the rest are usually the infrequent travelers..
Some stare at the ground, some bop their heads to the music in their ears and others look up half looking at people coming towards them and half staring at the exit sign.. Looking at the faces that pass by me, the expression I see in common is that of acknowledgement.. The understanding of a fellow human being walking in harmony..
A concert of acknowledgement is what we witness everyday…
